The city of Concord has approved A cell tower site at 3517 Clayton Rd (El Monte Shopping center) that will endanger the neighbor hood families , schoolchildren, church goers and workers in adjacent business due to chronic exposure 24hour bombardment of microwave pulsed radiation. The microwave tower will additionally decrease neighborhood properties values.
The builder is DW Horizons, LLC 140 Town&Country Ste. E Danville, CA 94526 925 314-1114 Leonard Pirkle is the contact. They Plan to have T-Mobil and three or more other cell company's broadcast from this tower.
The property owner that has agreed to have the tower on their property is: Raj &Nina Chabra 1482 Reliz Valley RD Lafayette, CA 94549 (925) 283 5023.The following is an appeal to the approval submitted to the city with over 200 enraged neighborhood owners and local business employee's signatures.
If you are opposed or want to comment please leave your name, phone number, and address and any comments in this Blog The following is the neighborhood appeal that the El Monte Neighborhood Association filed with the city. The appeal hearing is pending the city's research of legal issues.
APPEAL TO CONCORD’SAPPROVAL OF 3517 Clayton Rd CELL SITEThe appellants are hereby asking the city to overturn the Zoning Commission’s approval of the wireless cell tower located 3517 Clayton Rd. for the following reasons:1. We are vitally concerned about the heath issues. These concerns were raised by Glen Abrhams at the January 24th Public Hearing.2. Additionally we are challenging the need for this tower and calling for an independent first party needs analysis addressing wireless needs in our local area; all wireless providers’ phones work in our immediate neighborhood.3. We question the choice of location as many property owners and working employees are located within 400 ft and beyond will be radiated 24 hours per day. (touch-down point at 400’ is where maximum cell damage will be inflicted). The city should consider a least intrusive site with less human exposure. Other options exist and should be considered such as piggybacking and repeaters.4. Property values will be affected by the presence of the tower.5. We ask the city to have another hearing where the issues in this appeal can be considered by neighbors that have been and currently unaware of the full implications of this tower. It would be more appropriate to have the appeal meeting held in the evening to accommodate working class citizens that are most affected. A two-week window would seem to be appropriate to facilitate schedules.NAME ADDRESS CITY PHONE There is a considerable body of knowledge that points to the dangers associated with being continually bombarded with microwave frequencies. Its common knowledge that microwave radiation can penetrate block-buildings.Cell towers expose the neighborhood and public to involuntary, chronic, Cumulative Radio Frequency Radiation . Low levels of RFR HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH CHANGES IN CELL PROLIFERATION AND DNA DAMAGE. Some scientific studies show adverse health effects reported in the .01 to 100 mW/cm2 range at levels hundreds, indeed, thousands of times lower that the U.S. standards. These harmful levels of radiation can reach as far as a mile away from the cell tower location. Reported health problems include headache, sleep disorders, memory impairment, nosebleeds, an increase in seizures, blood brain barrier leakage problems, increased heart rates, lower sperm counts, and impaired nervous systems. (Bridlewood EMF’s information Service, 1999)Children are particularly susceptible to EMF’s due to smaller body size, thinner skulls and more rapidly dividing cells.
We are concerned about dangerous EMF exposure to El Monte Elementary School students’.We ask the City to practice prudent avoidance with the locating of towers. The Precautionary Principle holds that when questions of safety are concerned precautions should be taken to protect the public health even if scientific data is incomplete, or mechanisms of action are not understood. It is the only approach that makes sense given what we already know about RF, and given the situation in America with industry’s pervasive influence on all levels of government.
PRUDENT AVOIDANCE SHOUE BE THE MOTIVATIONS FOR TOWNS SITING INSTALLATIONS NEAR THE POPULATION. (Blake Levitt, Cell Towers: Wireless Convenience or Environmental Hazard?)
